About Hoka
Founded in 2009 in Annecy, France by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard, former Salomon employees. 'Hoka' is Maori for 'to fly over the earth.' The maximalist foam platform — conceived to speed up mountain descents — went against every trend (minimalist shoes dominated 2009). Deckers acquired Hoka in 2013. Revenue exploded from $1M to $1B in 10 years. The Bondi carries the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance. 2026 releases include Mach 7, Speedgoat 7, Skyflow 2, Rincon 5.
Packaging: White-and-orange branded shoe box — clean, premium without being excessive. The laces come wrapped with a Hoka tag. The box itself functions as storage.
Placement fit: coastal, alpine, urban. Objects from Hoka work in coastal, alpine, urban settings — a coastal is where we place them most.
Hoka objects we place
5 objects from Hoka in the current catalog. Each is composed for the listing — we read the reservation the way a returning guest would, propose the right SKU for the space, and place it by hand before the guest arrives.
Objects from Hoka are available on request — write to hello@guestgesture.com to add a specific SKU to a gesture.
How we place Hoka
Hoka objects ship in their original packaging, placed at the relevant position in the space — bath counter, nightstand, kitchen, or mantel — the night before or morning of arrival. We include a handwritten card on Pineider stock. The placement fee is absorbed in the tier price: Threshold $80, Considered $140, Appointed $220.
To send a Hoka arrival gift to someone staying at a vacation rental, villa, inn, or private home: paste a reservation, or write to hello@guestgesture.com. We propose, you approve, we place it before they walk in.
