About TUMI
Founded in 1975 by Charlie Clifford, who named the brand after a Peruvian gold ceremonial knife (tumi). Initially made briefcases for South American markets. The FXT ballistic nylon was developed with the US military. Now owned by Samsonite International (acquired 2016). The TUMI Tracer program embeds a unique serial number in every piece — lost TUMI luggage has a 40% recovery rate through their global network.
Packaging: The TUMI bag arrives in a branded dust bag and branded box with a care card and registration kit for the TUMI Tracer program. Black and gold — unambiguously premium.
Placement fit: urban, minimal, classical. Objects from TUMI work in urban, minimal, classical settings — a urban is where we place them most.
TUMI objects we place
5 objects from TUMI in the current catalog. Each is composed for the listing — we read the reservation the way a returning guest would, propose the right SKU for the space, and place it by hand before the guest arrives.
Objects from TUMI are available on request — write to hello@guestgesture.com to add a specific SKU to a gesture.
How we place TUMI
TUMI objects ship in their original packaging, placed at the relevant position in the space — bath counter, nightstand, kitchen, or mantel — the night before or morning of arrival. We include a handwritten card on Pineider stock. The placement fee is absorbed in the tier price: Threshold $80, Considered $140, Appointed $220.
To send a TUMI arrival gift to someone staying at a vacation rental, villa, inn, or private home: paste a reservation, or write to hello@guestgesture.com. We propose, you approve, we place it before they walk in.
